As is known, Israel and Lebanon have a long history of armed conflict with the neighboring country. The last confrontation was recorded in 2006, when Israeli soldiers crossed the border of the two countries. In the conflict, about a thousand Lebanese were killed, while two Israeli soldiers were killed and three others abducted.

During this conflict also, Israeli products were boycotted in Lebanon. The citizens were banned from traveling to the country led by Benjamin Netanyahu. "We refuse to normalize relations with the enemy country, it's not about political disputes, but about resistance to colonialism," said Rania Masri, spokesman for the boycott movement.

On the other hand, a number of movie fans fought back against the boycott by launching a petition titled "Show Wonder Woman in Lebanon."

"Gal Gadot is indeed an Israeli, but we want to watch a movie about a great character named Wonder Woman," the contents of the petition.

Wonder Woman is not the first film of Gal Gadot film to be banned in Lebanon. Previously, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was boycotted in this country, but then finally aired.
