Wonder Woman is the first franchise film featuring superhero women, after Catwoman and Elektra that failed on the market.
The film, initiated since 1996, scooped up 52 percent of female viewers, a rare percentage for a movie about superheroes.
"Patty's vision amazed the audience, she's very talented, it really suits the expectations of audiences around the world," said Jeff Goldstein of Warner Bros..
"I'm sure we'll see more Diana (Wonder Woman) on the big screen," she continued.
Before working on Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins (45) was known as the director of Monster (2003), the film about Aileen Wuornos, a prostitute who later became a serial killer.
The film leads Charlize Theron, who plays Aileen, won the Oscars and Golden Globes as Best Actress.
